I have heard the newer (1998 up) MaxII's have a beefed up frame. I have an older one apart right now and would like to eliminate as much of the frame flex as possible. I was thinking of welding some flat stock diagonally across the top being careful of interference. Has anyone else done this? Does anyone know how the factory redesigned the newer frames to be stronger, maybe even have a picture?

Hi Buggyman: While I don't have Max II experience, I did beef up an older Attex frame. If you look at my Attex racer thread, there are some pictures. I put a piece of 3/8" flat stock 3" wide I think (Darn, it's been too long) flat across the front, and then made triangle gussets for ALL the corners, not just outside, but each cross brace corner everywhere it wouldn't interfere. I did this since besides butterflying (Which the front chunk of flat-stock took care of) I wasn't sure what other flex to expect, but with the gussets, I expect exactly none.Attex 295 Wild Wolf: sigpic My Runner

My old '70 something doesn't have the round tube crossmembers.
Mine rusted out at the middle axle and cracked at the "firewall", or the verticle structure where the shifter pokes through, so you might reinforce where that meets the frame rails.Comment

Hey Buggyman, what year is the one you are working on? Mine is ~ 1997. I haven't compared the two side by side but you can see some photos of the newest frame on Max's website here: Max II Frame . Just click on "Technical Features".
Just browsing through the photos real fast I didn't notice any difference?Comment
