Auxiliary transmission for Max T20

I understand. I'll do some measuring and see what I can come up with. When I have some info I will post it here.

Well I went out today and took sum measurement's and quickly found a problem,
1, I have a OH180 motor but don't know what motor you have?
2, My exhaust is small and out of the way but don't know about yours?
3, If we reuse the original belt it will effect where the input and out put shaft placement will be do to the other two problems, a shorter or longer belt may be required.
I'm not trying to ball-out and I do want to help in any way I can but without sum pictures of the area and more information on your setup I'm afraid I'm building this to fit only my unique machine and may be a night-mare If you tried to install in into yours.

Brushcutter, you would have to still run it through the T20 for steering and braking.
I think this could be built in just a couple of hours, once you had all the components gathered up. What will take a lot of time is fabbing up the mount to the machine, frame out ya' know. I wonder if it would sit on my transmission bracing, which wouldn't require the frame to be pulled.
I'll do some looking after work this evening.

I would go chains and sprockets, driven clutch now mounted on T20 would be mounted on input shaft, lever would be fine for shifting.

well if this is for a max-II using sprocket's and chain? I can mock one up using my max-II as a guide but the question is do you want to still use the original belt and whether or not you want to use gears or sprocket's and chain.
Also if you want a lever or shifting cable or solenoid to activate between HI/LO.
With out that info it would be hard to give an estimate.

Yes this can be built by any one with simple tools.
It can even be built using the gears out of one of those parted out tyranny's on ebay by only using the shafts and a couple of the gears I would imagine.
Going back to the basics is what this guy did and it works, Hear we're thinking of this big complicated setup using different gearboxes and transfer-cases when alls we needed was to go back to the basics. I admit I to was not thinking about the basics ether for this project till I stumbled across this on a welders forum I belong to.
As for RI not using it in there production?

I like the guys transmission, thoughts, and even execution. I'm left scratching my head as to why anyone would spend so much time on such a small and cheap go-cart.

After thinking about this it would be better to drive TO the T-20, otherwise you would have to have one for each side...

Yup it's stupidly simple and it will work on ether end of the T20. you can even go with double roller chain and sprocket's to beef it up.
The problem with small tractor transmissions is that they almost never have a 1:1 ratio, I don't think one from a motorcycle will either but I can be wrong.

Now that would work... instead of driving TO the T-20 you would drive this FROM the T-20, and you could build it as small as the sprockets would allow!

Why not build your one?

It's simple and you can make it any speed ratio you want.
I found it hear, Widdershins Way - DIY 2-speed Transmission
You can build one inside a box and give it an oil bath even. It would be a lot cheaper than a commercial unit.

That is probably close, unfortunately, that appears to be a transaxle. So far, the only thing I have found that appears it might work is still the aftermarket Harley Davidson type, stand alone, motorcycle transmissions. I found an Ultima 5 speed motorcycle transmission for $529.95. I would assume it would hold up under a 20 horse Kohler turning a cvt transmission. Remember, I want to use the cvt that came with the max. I probably wouldn't even shift on the fly, I would probably pick a gear and drive it, if I needed a lower or higher gear I would stop and select it. Somewhat like you would on a sidexside or 4x4 atv. I'm still looking though. Monday I'm going to check with the Garden tractor pullers and see if they have something.
