Axle Ouestion

Does anyone know what year they went to splined axles. Need to replace one and not sure if it is round or splined. My Max II is 50 miles from here or I would just look. I appreciate any info. Thanks !!

I always get myself in trouble when I start trying to remember what updates came when but I think splined axles were used starting around 2000. What year is your Max?

The SS is a 2000 & it did not have splined axles. Our stock Max II is a 2003 & it does have splined axles. So, they may have started in 2001 or 2002, but they definitely had them in 2003.

Mine is an 07, going to take a chance and order the splined. Thanks everyone for the feedback ! Think I'll make that road trip anyway, just to get myself and my Lab out in the woods.
