  • max IV t-20 noise

when i am going forward and start to pull my right lateral back slightly, my tranny starts to make a clatter sound . not sure if this could be an adjustment problem. i recently had motor and tranny out to replace all 12 bearings. before doing the bearing job, everything was fine. after putting things back together, this is when the clatter started. i made no adjusments on my t-20 before this clatter started. also now that the deep freeze is here, i am having trouble getting the right side to go into reverse. could both problems be related? thanks in advance for your input guys.

I would guess that there is an issue with the linkage on the right side and it may not be fully engaging. I'd check all the linkage and lube everything. Another thing to look at is the pin in the diamond shifter on top of the T-20. It might be wearing and grinding against the shift collar

Are you having trouble physically getting the right side into gear (e.g.: is the diamond shifter not physically engaging), or once you get it into gear, it simply won't back up on that side? A "clatter" sounds distinctly like one of your U channels may be loose on one side. Perhaps the cross-pin that rides over the top of the bolt on either the upper or lower side plunger (I'm guessing lower) either broke or fell out. If these break/fall out you won't really be able to engage a band, and there may be some rattling.

That's all I can come up with for "clatter".....
