Depends on what you want to do with it. I'm sure it is worth a hundred or two for just the transmission, but those old Maxs with balloon tires are quite fragile and unreliable. Even if it runs and drives now, chain, axle, and bearing problems are plentiful... not to mention trying to keep a 40 year old 2-stroke running.
Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.

While searching craigslist today, I saw a old max that was a runner with a 440 2 stroke in it for $1500, and I think its been up for a while now. Body looked nice enough for the age and all, but if he can't get $1500 out of it running, I certainly would not go wild bidding on a non runner.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

          Lots of fun

We have the JLO two stroke in our 1977. It has great performance and is a blast to use all day! Took a little getting used to as far as starting goes but once we learned to engage the starter and get the engine turning over first before hitting the primer it has been nothing but easy starts and hours of fun! We also have a 2005 Max 4 with 26" tires and Other than being able to give more rides I think we actually enjoy the old max more!
