  • Tracks for max IV

I recently purchased a Max IV to use for ice fishing. This past weekend there was about 2 feet of snow and slush on lake and we high centered quite a few times. I was considering purchasing a set of tracks. Do these make a big difference in not getting high centered and stuck? What brand of tracks should I consider and what is the maintenance on having a set? Thanks

I don't know much about Max IV's, but I can tell you there is no comparison between wheels and tracks in the snow. Overflow (Water on the ice, under the snow) can still be a problem sometimes. I also don't know what tracks are available for Max's, but personally I would really like to try a set of Adair Tracks.

I have a 2008 Max IV with Argo 18" supertracks and 3" wheel spacers and yes it's night and day comparing to tires. I am supposed to use the MAX bearing extensions but can't find any at a good price; so I expect to change the outer bearings sooner. IF you get plastic tracks, get ice cleats with them.

P.S. I use the Argo tracks because here in Canada you can find the tracks used and very cheap; another solution is to find 3 tracks made to go over the tires of the polaris 6x6 atvs and splice them to fit your AATV. I have seen a set made with mountain snowmobile tracks (1.75") and it was just incredible.
