I broke a chain on (the left drive chain for the wheels)this Sunday on my Max II. So can you just repair a chain or do you have to replace it?

Chain repair or replacement?

I generally replace broken chains
I have found that once I have a chain break once, it breaks again (at the worst possible time). So I generally replace. I've even taken to carrying a 10 ft set of chain (with chain breaker) with me. So far I haven't needed it, but I do feel better because I know I've got it.
You can look up the three required chain lengths (transmission to rear wheel, rear wheel to middle wheel, and middle wheel to first wheel) and just make sure you have enough for the longest one.
I believe last Oct someone mentioned they carry one of each size (with spare Master Links) so they can change our even faster when travelling.
Chain costs less than the aggrevation that comes from an hours work trying to fix a broken chain when on vacation. For the most part, even if I have to use the Chain Breaker to make one a proper length, it only take about 30 minutes to replace a broken chain.
