Just a question, but isn't the footbrake useful for descending hills? How would you go about this with a handbrake only? I find in really steep country the footbrake is perfect for applying even braking. As for all the other stuff, it seems to me that enough people already complain about the cost of a new machine, and extras all come at a price. I think the lower engine and trans on the Max IV would be worthwhile however.

I think the hand brake request is for a hydraulic actuated lever on the laterals. I use my foot brake on most hills. A hand brake would be nice since you could use it while standing outside the machine.

I try to change my brake pads on the 2002 max ii call around and it cost from 95 to 125 that is way to much for brake pads so I just have to use my stick to stop it

The early machine with the mid mounted disc brakes kind of stopped but the mechanical calipers were mounted to the frame and if you had any water in the tub they did not work. I removed the mechanicals and added hydraulic calipers above the frame. It now stops and the hand brake master cylinder has allot of holding power and even a parking feature.

Great mod for sure! Don did the same thing on his Hustler 980 and I wouldn't hesitate stopping that machine on a 45 degree incline and setting the brake.

A great engine/transmission setup would be the engine/automatic transmission out of a new Honda Big Red. I measures the engine tranny combo in my friends Big Red and it would fit in my Buffalo. A Big Red will run 40 mph but seems a little high geared in 1st. Gear it down to 20 or 25 in a Max and it would be a great combo. Just adjust the gearing between the Honda tranny and T20 using chains and sprockets. With this setup you could eliminate the clutch drive belt wear associated with the current setup. Also, the Honda engine is fuel injected and rated at 36.3 horsepower.

A simple reply from a past employee: Redesigning/retooling/re-engineering takes time, money, ad nauseum.
It's not that we didn't talk about every single thing on that list, but you have to consider the frame subcontractor, the body contractor, the time for people not on the prod line hacking it together, all of it. The cost of a new body mould would shock you into incontinence.

The answer to... "Why don't they"'s are usually "money". In capital amounts.

LOL: I hear you Patmax, the statement just sounds funny. An Argo dealer told me long ago that Argo could build anything but the expense would be overwhelming.Further a world class engineer once told me that virtually anything developed/created/invented is never the best but a compromise between the best and what is affordable.Max builds a really nice machine and everyone would like to see different things improved. For me.........tires.bigger.....better..........afford able and available. The bigger creates a tub mod,the better creates expense, the available also adds expense and these things attack affordable. What a dilemma!!!

How about a 90 bend in the steering handles for improved comfort

I agree with that one. Has any body done this u would think they could be heated up and bent over some more.

Bending them will shorten them. I suggest welding on a pair of tubes horizontally to the existing sticks.

I also moved the sticks to the right so 2 riders can sit comfortably. The front seat is also moved back.

Have a pic under the floorboard showing what you did to move the sticks over to the right?
