  • my new max!!

Hello to all ! this is my first post on this site. I just bought a max2, dont know what year cuz i cant find a serial or vin anywhere on it but I think its a mid 80's
says comet on the engine pulley, is there a place i can get a manual ? also can you adjust the steering?it pulls slightly to the right and the left steering isnt very good, i looked at the rear left chain and it is really close to the c channel chains seem a bit loose but this is new to me. anyone know how much play they are supposed to have?

If it pulls it is usually a problem with your tire pressure. You cant go by pressure but by circumference. Use a rope,belt.....to measure around the tire and make sure they are all the same. PSI will vary so dont go by that. RI will more then likely have manuals for you. There is adjustments for the transmission if one side isnt working the same as the other. Look on the home page....http://www.6x6world.com/forums/conte...er-manual.html There are also some how to videos in the sections section on the home page. Good luck and congrats!

Use the search feature on the site for specific parts of your machine that you want to learn about.Ask questions, people on here have more combined knowledge than all the engineers from Recreative/argo combined, then read, read, read.Welcome to the site and congrats.

              NEED Ideas and HELP

OK searched the entire machine , no SN unsure of the year model. Need a owner manual/Service manual. I am new to these so help is appreciated.
I did the red paint and a new front rack and rear bars , new winch coming in the mail. has a bracket on the passenger side under the dash not connected to anything , WHAT IS THIS FOR? Also looks like the last chain on the driver rear side is really close to the frame. Could this be why it pulls to the right and causing a power loss in left turning?
Would also like to tighten up the steering controls, HOW? And this is the biggest thing im trying to figure out. OK bought this for the wife to take the kids out, she loved our friends ranger but they were out of our price range so i talked her into this cuz they r amphibious so it works for me too, she wants a top and i want it a hard top , I have seen some on newer models on here but how did you guys support the wieght of the front roll bar, any pics of the method would be great. I am all about fabrication, but i need ideas on how to integrate the windshield with the frame for the top so i can get it to the tent and tarp place to make the doors and rear soft cover thanks guys!!!

                  Nice Max!

I would guess that bracket is something someone added. I haven't seen on like that before.

I'm pretty sure that plate wasn't factory, but I'm really not sure why someone added it.

High, I'm in the mat valley, restoring a early maxII on the pic were the letteral sticks are touching, the serial number is stamped into the frame, they are sequencial numbers, do to my work scedule I can't call REC industries to find what year, from help from others on this forum, mine is a early 70's. That plate is not stock. lots of info on on this forum for chains. Read, read read and go over your machine. Curious, is I may ask(sinse your in Alaska too) what you picked yours up for?? When you find your serial number please post Happy trails...

Look at pics from this forum. They have neat ideas for tops. I would reinforce the winsheild and just put a top cover on it with snaps, back over the roll bar with adjustable nylon straps to anchor it behind. If you inclose the cab you will have issues with the glass fogging due to high humidity and or temp i would imagine. You may also want to build a guard around that winch, seems like the moter is really exposed and i would hate for an alder to wipe it off (just this fairbanks guys opinion)
