No, a lot of people here on the site do that in custom builds. The mounts are there really as vibration isolators but the members who have eliminated them say that they don't really notice any additional vibration when they go to solid mounts.

On some of the members custom builds, eliminating the mounts allows them to lower the engine and, of course, the center of gravity as well. The downside for you doing that in your max, depending on how much work you want to do, is that the exhaust may have to be modified for the lower engine and the clutch on the engine will need to be checked for proper clearance with the tub. I'm just throwing that out there if you haven't thought about it already.

I'm making solid aluminum blocks with 1/4" rubber on top, the same height as the original mounts. I don't have the stop you were talking about.

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the help and info. I installed the motor mounts I made and adjusted the belt again and man what a difference. I have a lot of low end power and my top end speed is better as well. I would have never believed that a simple belt adjustment would make such an improvement. Thanks again guys, now its time to go play on the Max.
