  • throwing chains

yesterday i was riding when all of a sudden i threw my right side rear axle chain. seems that my axle had moved out a little causing this to happen. after re-aliging the axle back and locking down my split collars, everything looked good. drove about 12 feet, and again off comes the chain. was wondering if i might be experiencing too much frame flexing and what should be done at this point. my machine is a '94 max IV. thanks again guys

Put your machine in neutral on blocks & spin the wheels by hand. You'll probably hear all you need to know. The sprocket has probably moved & you think it's back where it should be, but it might be off a bit. Highly unlikely that the frame is flexing to cause your problem.

had the machine up on blocks and when spinning the wheels by hand everything was good. no crunching, or any other noise. put it down on all 6 wheels, went about 10-12 feet and bam! chain jumped off. put chain back on, went in my pond to watch what was going on, and everything was fine. drove around a little on my yard, and still no problems. now i don't feel safe taking it too far from home. maybe i'm jinxed, or i might need an exorcism, but this has got me baffeled.
