  • Looking into buying a Max 6x6

    Hello:
I'm researching into buying a Max 6x6. I would appreciate any tips to look for in my search. I've been reading up on the Max, but just like buying a used car, it's always best if you know ahead of time what to watchout for and what to check when inspecting a unit before buying.
    Thanks in advance.

You should check out the used atvs buyers guide. It will help out a lot. Here is the link.... http://www.6x6world.com/forums/conte...r-s-guide.html

Assume the bearings are bad unless you can verify otherwise. If your bearings are bad you will have chains breaking and other issues. New bearings will cost about $100 and a lot time to replace them. I just went through it.

If you know nothing about cars, isn't it wise to take it to a mechanic? If you post your location maybe another member local to you will help out.

I agree with assuming the bearings are bad....unless they are really worn out it can be hard to tell untill you remove them and spin them in your hands. The bearings are cheap enough, but it is a fair amount of work to replace them. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/conte...placement.html

Take a look at the axles. Actually split the body and see for yourself what they are running. Hollow axles are weak, solid axles are ok but can still bend if you beat on it the right way, splinned is the way to go if you can afford it. Also make sure tye frame is straight and not rusted out. Listen to the engine run for a while, but look at everything else first, and take your time. Sometimes people will run an engine up until you pull in the driveway. Try to give it time to cool down and see if it starts easy, then run it for a while shut it off ahd see if it starts again. Its a used toy, so keep soke funds in the budget for repairs.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!
