  • How to remove motor on a MAX IV?

I have a Kohler Command 20. I removed the electrical and fuel lines, unbolted the 4 platform mounts. The last item is the drive belt. I tried tilting the engine to try and loosen the belt but that does't work. Whats the best way to remove the belt?

Also, I see what appear to be two lifting hooks on the Kohler. They don't seem all that solid. Are these safe to attach chains to and pull out with an engine lift?

No clue about the motor lift mounts. when it comes to removing the belt, I always just pop the clutch off, then it comes off easily.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Dumb question, but is the drive clutch the one that is attached right to the motor?

That's not a dumb question! I didn't know either when I first got into this. You are correct, the "drive" clutch is on the engine, and it turns the "driven" clutch on the transmission.

You can also obtain some slack by spreading the driven side sheaves (pulley faces) apart. This takes some effort but you will have to rotate the driven end backwards by pulling away and up on the belt (front side) so the belt pulls deeper into the driven sheave. Once you have some slack you can work the belt off the driven end. Once off the driven end this should give you enough slack to slip the belt off the drive end. But if the engine side clutch can come off that's good also.
the 2 sheet metal engine loops are adequate to lift the engine.

The drive clutch looks like its mounted with a center bolt and three outer bolts. If I remove those, will it just slide out? Will anything jump out at me? And when I go to reinstall it, are there any torque specs I should follow for the bolts?

Just remove the center bolt and not the three outer bolts. The center bolt is what holds it on to a keyed shaft. It's not going to jump off at you or anything, in fact you may have to tap it off once the bolt is removed.
