  • Max IV body bands

I noticed that some people have built wraparound body bands out of angle iron for there Max IV's. I started by building the front and back bumpers. Then I looked at installing the side rails put the sides appear the be bowed out a little. Is this normal or is my Max warped and should I form the angle to fit or pull the Max sides in? My Max is about 14 years old.

I was looking through the gallery and noticed that Kahn had one very similar to what I am building. Is there a way to get messages to other members directly?

You can send a private message to any member on the site: Setting and Profile Features

For the body, it should be straight and not bowed out. That's unusual, most of the time when a body bows, it sags down instead of bowing out. Since it is just bowed out a little, I think I would build the band straight and pull the body back in until it fits. You may have to use a little heat or let it sit in the hot Louisiana sun for a while to help out.

That was what I figured about the body, but I wanted some conformation. I'm going to pick up another length of angle tomorrow. Thanks for the tip on PM.
