  • new to the max 2 how do i get reverse to work? 1977 max 2

    i bought this for some fun has rockwell 2 stroke 1 piston it goes forward great wants to not track all the way i can feel the gears lock up in going in to forward but does not feel the same going in to reverse tran belt drive turns freely but the max roll unsell its in nutral any thing will help thanks scott

    I can't understand your post, but I'll take a guess. Take out the diamond shifters on the transmission and inspect the pins. If they are worn, replace them. Then adjust the transmission bands. The information on all of this is located on the site.

      once you put it in reverse and gave it throttle did you pull back on both sticks ??

        Pull back on the sticks after lifting the trans shifter all the way up.

          i did not try that thank you i now have bigger problem 2 tires are shot and living in washington state i have not found any its the old style 1977 small hub thanks and where can you get belts?

            You can get a belt at your local NAPA autoparts store or thought a Max dealer or direct from the max factory.

                I don't know what the belt on that old of a Max would be. If you take it off and take it to NAPA they should be able to match it, or you can take it off and measure it yourself and then find one that matches those dimensions. Finally, if you call the factory, they will probably know what belt you need without you having to take it off. Just give them the VIN number from your machine.
