Hey guys I got my early 70's max II out for the first time this weekend. at first it ran very poorly, after rebuilding the carb and messing with the high speed and low speed needles It still wasn't running good at all, after a day of being lost and confusion I turned off the headlight toggle and it was night and day difference in the performance! It took off and was a blast. after that I wiggled the wires under the dash and I believe it had full power and was very fast all for about 2 mins, then it seemed to drop to about 65-70% of its capable power. but with the head lights off it was now runing fairly decent (enough to play with it) but I know its got alot more too it. I guess I need to figure out the wiring mess going on. and also thought that I would try and convert the headlights to LED... is this a good idea? I figured to avoid this problem when I rewire it i will also run the headlights directly off of the battery.... Does anyone have any feedback or recomendations... or information about what LED lights to get or where I can find the best wiring diagram for a 70's max 2 with a JLO 295? any information would be great thanks alot!!!!

Here's a link to LED lights. They are slightly too small for the holes in your top, so you'll have to adapt somehow. 4" Trailer RV Mounting HI-COUNT LED Backup Lights Kit | eBay
They are very bright up close but not so much at a distance. I used them on mine, and added an extra incandecent on an additional switch if I need more light.Attached Files
