Anyone else have this problem? mine is a max II with ext muffler. The flex-pipe that goes through tub is surrounded by a stainless steel mesh which allows water to flow through, and drip right on the belt. I could see right through the insulation ring on the tub, so I put some high temp permatex around it, but then realized that the mesh will also allow water through....so I wraped that in aluminum heat tape in the area that would normally drip right over the belt. I suppose ultimate fix would be a topside muffler but I think this will work pretty good. Thoughts>?

You will never seal that area 100%. It is supposed to be above the waterline, but tire splash and body tip may still allow some water to come in. Seal it as best as you can, and the small amount of water that comes in won't hurt anything. Metals(exhaust pipe) will expand and contract as thier temp changes. Add in some vibration from the motor and off road conditions and you can see why it's impossible for a 100% seal.
