  • max handles converted to argo type???

i am new to this and just looking around, being a new "stick" driver i thought the argo sticks look easier to use than the max

i have a max IV and am wondering if it could be converted or if i am mistaken and it is not easier to drive an argo?
guess i should clarify that i was looking at the argo 8 wheelers on ebay, i have no idea if all argos have the same sticks

thanks for any input you can give

Are you talking about the horizontal handles with the motorcycle twist grip or the new motorcycle handle bar with the push pull to steer.

The max sticks are fine and that design has ben used for years in a bunch of different machines.

If you have a newer Max 4 the springs on the levers are normally way to stiff and tight. I loosen them up or put on light springs just enough so it will keep from rolling when parked in reverse, and even that is not a necessity.

It takes a few hours driving the max to get really go with steering and using the throttle.

A person could make the change to the horizontal hand grips but I don't see that big of advantage, actually I don't see any.

      lossening springs

ok how do i go about loosening the springs some? i did not see any articles for that, can someone send me in the right direction

it is a newer max and it does seems stiff to me

i personally do think that the handlebars turned to the side like an argo would use different muscles than having your hands turned upward like max has them, so i think the other way looks better but i also might do better with lighter springs

You should be able to pull your back floorboard and see the springs. The springs will be attached to a couple of eye bolts. Just loosen the nut on the eye bolt. You may need to put something through the eye bolt like a screw driver to keep it from turning and wasting your turn on the nut.

Loosen them up till they are where you like them. I like them really loose.
A lot of machines never had the springs and the guys that owned and drove them say they were so much easier to control and more enjoyable to drive epecially at high speed.
