  • swimming my IV

Hi all, I'm new to the forum but Ive had my max IV for awhile and never had it swimming. Sooo i thought it would be a breeze and took it to the pond and went right in. took on alot of water real fast while going across and was able to make it back acrosss to try to get out and it wouldnt pull itself out so I pulled it out with the truck. I had not seen that there was a gash in the tub by the back left wheel. I was surprised that it didn't sink completly. dodged a bullet there. My question is what is the best way to fix the tub without buying a new one.

    First off,

Welcome to the site Vern. Sorry to hear about your slice. If you have an older abs machine then you can use the search tool on the site to find out how to use and make abs goo. If its a poly body, you have to get it welded, no goo, or silicone, or fiberglass, or gum will fix it.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

G/flex Epoxy Adhesive Kit - 655-K at NRSweb.com if yours is poly, this product works great. i also had a 6 inch slice in the same as you on my max IV and this worked out great.

All Max IVs are poly.... If it's not a huge gash, you can just melt it back together with a soldering iron. If the gash is in an area that the factory-optioned skid plate covers, you can add quite a bit of rigidity to the area by buying one from Recreatives...

So is HDPE another word for poly? Thanks for all your help. I was considering buying a plastic welder from harbor freight but the g-flex epoxy kit has me thinking it would be easier.

There are several different types of "POLY". HDPE stands for High Density Poly Etheline. The Harbor freight welder isn't a great option. It is fairly inconsistent in temp, and does not come with any poly rod. I've been using one of these for a few years with very good results Urethane Supply 5600HT Model 6 Airless Plastic Welder | eBay
