What is the tallest tire you can put on 1997 max IV

Basically, a 26" tall tire is the limit.... I don't know if 27s would rub between the back two tires, but it'd be darn close.

Have these things changed much through the years? I am going to buy a 97 Max IV on Sunday.

Have these things changed much through the years?

The simplest answer, is "no". Aside from engine options, axle upgrades (splined versus round), and some general body/ frame changes over the years, the Max IV is about the same as it was when it was first conceived. This is a picture of my (approximately) 1975 RIM, which was the predecessor to the Max IV. Hard to believe the old girl is 36 years old.
