  • Alot of Questions about my new/old max 2

I am new to the 6X6 thing just traded for one about a month ago and i'm in fairbanks, Ak so lots of stuff to run it threw i've been in marshs, up mountains, rivers, ponds, lakes you name it i've put this thing to the test I have a 18 hp vanguard motor and it was running perfectly until I parked it after one weekend of riding and now the throttle sticks open??? I messed with the throttle mechanism and I can manually open and it'll snap back shut no problem but when the throttle cable is involved its like it doesn't have enough power to pull it back into place?? any help would be great also after looking at it I don't think that spring thats around that rod coming off the carb is in the right spot if someone could tell me where opposite end of the carb goes it would be much appreciated, Also I was wondering about a service or user manual how would I go about getting one? I was told mines a 1970s with a newer motor but i have no idea all I do is drive it. Lastly how do i go about finding out about cool rides I hear about everyone on here talking about and have pictures of?? anyone heard of anything going on in Alaska? All the help and replys would be very appreciated.

If I were you I would call RI and order a new throttle cable. you can even get a heated one from them. From what you described, it sounds like everything works when its not connected. they can crack and get debris and what not in the housing. just my 2 cents.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Drew is right about the throttle cable. The same thing happens in the winter when water gets in the cable and freezes. It has similar effects. For a manual, look here on the site in the manuals section. For rides, look in the trail ride section and to find members near you to set up a ride with, look in the "Local 6x6 World Members" section of the site.

If you will search the site, there are a couple of threads on that topic. Here is one to get you started: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-a...ttle-help.html There can be different configurations / placement of the throttle return spring so if it doesn't look exactly like that, don't worry. Post up a picture of yours and someone can take a look at it and let you know if it's ok. Really, as long as it is secured into place and it is pulling the throttle back closed then it is fine regardless of where it is located.
