  • No power in revers

My 93 Max sits most of the sumer. When I put it away in the spring, I had O.K. power in revers, not great however. When I got it out a few weeks ago, I found that it would not move much at all in revers. I adjusted my sticks two turns to the left. I did get my power back in revers. Can anyone tell me why this is. I keep up on my fluid changes and maintain my machine like it was my only child!

It sounds like your bands could be wearing some? Or, perhaps your shift pins are wearing and not fully engaging reverse? Did you have to adjust both sides the same?

I did adjust both sides. However, I did have a chance to talk to a member last night. He told me to try some lucas and some new tranny fluid. I hooked up the winch to my deer hoist and stood her on end to get all the old fluid out. I put about 8 ounces of lucas in and the rest with new tranny fluid. I then took her for a ride. I have never gone so fast in revers. Seems to want to really go. The old fluid was more black than red. I did change it last fall. is this normal.

One other thing that I forgot to mention. I thought that my chains were clacking, after fluid change, the clacking also went away! I remembered this after reading about the same issue in the forum. Clutch plates clacking!

The dark fluid you are seeing is normal. If it is really bad, there may be a problem but it sounds normal from reading your post. The noise that went away sounds like band chatter against the drums.

              transmission problem

I posted a while back that I was having transmission problems. As it turns out, my mistake was the battery. It was to big. My linkage was hitting the battery. It was not able to engage my bands. Dropped in a smaller battery, problem solved.
