  • 24" Argo tires on Max II

I have seen a few people are putting on 24" Argo tires on their Max II's. Will they clear without heating the tub? Also will they fit on OEM max wheels, or do you have to buy Argo wheels...if so is the bolt pattern the same for the Max as the ARGO? Thanks Boys and Girls!

There's alot of variables....each tire can be a different diameter, air pressure changes diameter, so does rim width. Plus the older the machine is, the more the body is likely to have sagged. They may clear on a new machine, but I wouldn't bet on it with an older one.

I put 22x12.5-8 tires on mine, the tires mounted on stock max rims are about 23" tall, and I had to heat the tub. Mine is a 1988 or 89, I suspended it from the ceiling and heated it using it's own weight to counter the age related sagging.

One of these torches Propane Torch can heat the tub up in seconds......You will have to use it on the lowest setting and hold it back a foot or so to keep from overheating it.

Here is a little R&D Mike did on tires. Though we did not have any 24 inch tires to try this is what we found out about the Avenger tires and Rawhide III. Good reading.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

We ran the 24" Argo tires before the 22" version was available. The 22" is a much better choice as they bolt right on and you don't have to worry about modifying the body or risk the possible damage if they rub. You can use your Max rims although I recommend a rim from a '99 model year or newer vehicle so you have the bead lock kawasaki rims. The Argo rims work good also and they are 1" narrower, same bolt pattern.
