  • New member chain issue

I just bought a Max II dont know the year but it has square headlights (sn# 16804) Its been sitting a long time outdoors with a tarp on it I have it on jackstands the left side chains are loose but the right side are not. I watched the video it said to move the center chains on each side evenly but only 1 side is loose. Any help would be appreciated Thanks

It is possible that one chain was replaced but not the other. Count the links and see if they are the same. If they are at least replace the stretched side, but you should really do both with the same brand chain at the same time.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Your Max is definitely a 2000. The rectangle headlamps started in 2000 & mine is also a 2000 and my serial # is approx 200 past your serial#. Sure doesn't seem that your chains should have stretched that much, especially if it's just been sitting. Suppose it's possible, but unlikely. Are you sure that one of the chain adjusters just needs to be pushed down?

Watch the video again. The two sides are independent of each other so that doesn't matter. What the video says needs to be turned evenly are the two bolts that adjust the position of the jackshaft.
