  • Custom exhaust for max 2

Is there susposed to be a gap between the flex pipe and the body because mine does and i though water would get in? So i was thinking i could close off the hole and routed the flex pipe out one of the openings in the back where i would put heat sheild then a chrome out let. Would that melt the body or does anyone have any better ideas? Thank you.

Here's a link to R.I. website. It's a picture of how the exhaust exits on the new machines. Sorry but I couldn't find any pics of the inside of the tub. http://www.maxatvs.com/clientuploads...ax2_c_out5.jpg

You should have a triangular fiber spacer around the exhaust pipe. The holes get enlarged over time. I dont know what material they are or if they are available from the factory.
Your exhaust may be 6-700 degrees there so it will melt the HDPE tub. If the gap is small silicone will last for a while.

I cant help more then what buggyman did but Im not sure about Max specifically but some manufactures used asbestos so be careful. Dont want anybody endangering themselves.

You can get the triangular fiber spacer from the factory still but that exhaust system is not fun to take on / off. Before I converted mine to a rear exhaust I had a similar problem with the gap around the exhaust but it really didn't let as much water/mud in as you would think. If you want to seal it I would do what buggyman mentioned and just use some high temperature silicone.

Mike, how did you close the hole after you converted it?

I took a piece of metal larger than the hole and riveted it to the body with some silicon between it and the body itself. That was a couple of years ago and it hasn't leaked there yet.

For your engine parts, any small engine shop local to you should be able to help.
