    John,

The plunger Orings are on the plungers of a T20 trans. There are 4, two on each side one for braking and one for power. Each plunger has 2 orings so 8 orings total. The orings keep the trans fluid from leaking out. the only way to replace /clean them is by taking the trans apart. I think most people just use vaseline to lube them.

I posted the type of oring if you need to replace them . It's toward the end of this thread:

If your not leaking fluid from them you probably don't need to do anything to them.

Just to add to micmac's post, often they start to leak because they dry out over time and start to let fluid out of the trans. Usually it's not enough to matter especially since the plungers are not on the bottom of the trans.

However, it doesn't hurt to lube them every once in a while. In the past I have just taken an oil cup filled with motor oil and squirted a little around the plungers when I was working in the tub.

People will neglect them and after a while they lose all the fluid and burn up the bands and drums. I just give them a shot of pb blaster or marvel mystery oil from the outside.

older t-20s had only 1 oring per plunger both my 75 and 69 t20s had only 1 oring. i upgraded mine to the new 2 oring setup i took a small wheel cylender brake hone to cleen up the chrossion in the plunger bores but be carful not to take to mutch meterial off that aluminum is soft! i used lythium spray grease to lube the plungers and all the linkage for the sticks. another thing people sometimes forget both styx on a max are hollow so if you spray lube down the stick tubes it will reach the cross bar and lube the stick piviots. ive seen more than a couple of maxes with binding sticks.
they dont call me mad because im angry!!!!! im just a little crazy thats all!!!!

Here you go. It's the plungers under the U channel.
