  • new chain question

So I have my "new" max ripped apart. I have replaced two of the axle bearings already. I got the bearings from buffalo bearings. I ordered them on a monday while I was in deer camp and they were at my house on Wednesday when I got home. Im replacing all of the chain in the maxx to be on the safe side. The chain I have is from a friend who is a millwright and he had it in his shop on the shelf. The problem is it is in boxes of 10' My old chains measure about 5'4" so I can really only get one chain out of the box unless I add a little more chain to one of the lengths. Is it o.k. to have a "splice" or what would end up as two master links in the chain? I don't see what it would hurt but wanted some opinions. I don't have access to or know how to put the chain together without using a master link, Im sure there is a way how with proper tools and parts but I do not know how. What should I do?

Using two master links won't hurt anything.

10' boxes is the only way I have ever bought it but the last time I bought some the case tractor place had the best price. So u may won't to check with you local case or John Deere stores

Tractor chain is fine but do yourself a favor and get some quality chain like the US made Diamond brand. It is expensive but well worth it as it doesn't stretch anywhere close to as much as cheaper chain does. It will last you three times as long.
