Pontoons for a Max IV

I am wondering about making pontoons for my Max IV over the winter. Pondering the thought of sinking a 1200/1500 pound machine(depends on who is in it). What would be the best pontoon to actually keep you afloat if you took on water? I was thinking 10'/12' x 8 inch sewer pipe with foam fill, sealed off ends.If it only makes it less tippy it is not really worth it.I want to save it before it needs saving.
What size should be enough to keep it on top of the water?

I also plan on mounting a dual trolling motor set up of the receiver,.... if the Little Woman lets me buy the one I want. Remote controlled 160# thrust. Might have to settle for a couple of used ones and fab up something.

The Max IV will not sink to the bottom of the lake even if filled with water. it will stay close to the surface. There's pictures or video of a Max that sank and you can still see the rear or front wheels at the lake surface.

Post what u come up with when u finish your design I've been trying to come up with something myself for when I overload my max 2. When u put 2 grown men and a 200 pound deer in the the back it gets a little squirly.

After sinking the sportster, I stuffed 10 pool noodles into the hollow sides. It is a heavy fiberglass machine and didn't sink, but I think that was because the fuel tank was less than half full. With a full tank I may have had to dive for it.

pool noodles. What an excellent idea! I know they are flexible and pliable. But if needed. They can be cut consistently with an electric carving knife. They are definitely going in my build.
