  • Splittin' a Buff

Has anyone ever split a Buff's shifter? I think I've read and watched everything ever posted on here about it but haven't seen anything specific to the Buff. I understand the concept, but figured I'd ask, and if anyone has already been down this specific road, well, I'm all eyes and ears as the Buff seems different enough from the Max II and IV (at least from what I've been able to view on here) that there may be a 'unique way' to approach it. No sense trying to reinvent the wheel if someone else has already done it.

Buffalo truck is similar to the II. I've looked at it but haven't done it yet. Good luck

Sorry Mike, I guess I should've spelled that out. Gotta watch my shorthand in these posts.

Some pics of how the linkage is all laid out would help... how much difference is there between the truck's linkage and that of a Max IV?

Completely different. The Max II jackshaft tower is just like the one used in the Buffalo truck, so believe it or not, the shift setup for the Max II and Buffalo truck are similar.

Never touched but 1 Max II, and that was a LONG time ago. Sorry for not being "professor amphib", J.P., but I would still have to see one to lay out a split shifter. I do gather , however, that a II is easier to do than a IV and a IV isn't bad at all, so it should be easy to do.

I will try to take and post some pics of my BuffALO's stock linkage layout on Wednesday on this thread.
