  • Switching an internal exhaust to external exhaust

Just thought some of you might want to see some pics of a Max II that was changed from an internal exhaust to an external exhaust. I think it helps by getting some of the heat out of the engine compartment. Since the Model Citizen's machine had an external exhaust, it made the changeover pretty easy this time.

Nice work! Should be helpful to the site too. I enjoy staring at your engines, lol.

That looks fantastic!! What size pipe is that, and what kind of flanges are those?

                Heat in the tub

Whipper, Pipes look too pretty to wrap, but wrapping the header pipes reduced the heat in my tub immensely. It would look ugly, but highly effective.

just curious, by reducing the temp inside the tub how does this affect engine performance? i notice that my argo bigfoot gets very warm in the engine compartment and was thinking of a way to cool the area with a small fan but this is easier. in the summer i get a lot of heat coming into the upper tub channels around the pax area. would probably be better for the life of the hdpe. i know nothing about wrapping exhaust so bear with me, do you wrap right from the motor to the muffler only? can you wrap from motor to tail pipe completely? how easy is it to wrap this stuff? does this wrap reduce engine noise also or is that a seperate type of wrap or does it accomplish both, heat and sound? thanks trevor
