thanks to larryw and buggyman I am finally getting the new engine in. Duromax 16hp electric start. The motor is here and mount is fabbed up, buggyman that go kart site was awesome just finished ordering the parts needed last night. got the complete exhaust pipe, header , flange, as well as a throttle linkage and cable set up and upgraded to 18 lb valve springs all for less than 80 bucks! i couldnt have even bought the raw materials for that. picked up that clutch from mfg for 229. in the meantime i have removed the governor, added a T to the original gas tank so i can use the original max tank and have a spare. added a hi flow air filter and crank breather filter to the list of extras. cant wait to test it out!!! Ill add pics later

You have to be careful what parts you order...they deal with the 6HP clones too.

yeah i had to send them an e-mail and they gave me the part numbers and specs i needed turned out they were able to replace the 18 lb springs with 32 instead to handle the bigger motor. plus i had some extra parts laying around to fab some of my own stuff like the breather and air filter. I should have the clutch in this week. have to patch the hole from the ols exhaust and im gonna keep the fuel pump for now that i had , ill post some pics soon plus i think the old engine and exhaust are goin up for sale here in case anyone can use them.

Scotty, This is gonna be fun to watch. Them little clone motors can really tear stuff up! Especially if you dump some money into them...man do they run! I rode a golf cart with a 13hp clone motor that was hopped up..wow..lol Golf cart needed seat belts in my opinion, we had it up on 2 wheels ALOT! lol
Also i dont wanna hi-jack your thread but Quick question for you guys that run electric fuel pumps...what pump do yinz buy? cuz i was worried about "over fueling" the motor on these small engines...will this happen? i mean i'm sure in theory..ya could OVER power the float? and flood the motor? I mean, is there a certain size pump for certain size motors?
-WagZ-I have officially caught the 6-wheel-sickness!!

My PowerMax is suppose to have a charging coil. I have never used it because I think I fried it running it around with all the wires dangling around.I did just put an alternator on it like you want to do. But after it getting dunked all the time I just gave up on it and pulled the rope.
I just double checked the manual and it does have a coil. Im assuming yours came with a manual too. Does it show it? I did some online searching and it looks like the DuroMax dont or some dont at least. I read someone saying most china copies are only 3amp too. Alternator is the way to go but its a whole lot easier if it did have a charging system of some sort.

didnt see it in the manual but then again it is more of an owners manual than a service manual, and to mustangwagz.... im running a mechanical pump from an old arctic cat parts sled rather than an electric one i like more mech and less elec, tends to complicate things less. Larryw do you have a set up pic for that alt?

I made the neck for the filter from an old thermostat housing i had pulled off my arctic cat zr580 when it finally gave up the ghost, then just cut the side that didnt line up with the carb holes off and attached the air filter there. the smaller filter is one of the breather filters from auto zone attached with a tube sleeve i used a piece of flared tubing inside the stock hose and cut a hole for it to exit then slipped the gas tank breather to it. prettty simple and cheap, i liked the way it came out looking. Got the exhaust parts in today but they are too small and ill have to send them back, the pipe was only 1" od and my original is more like 1 1/2 plus the universal muffler looks tiny but it might work or i may try using my old pipe and modifying it to work
