  • My Dual Battery Solution

I *hate* having a dead battery in this machine, especially when my rear rack is on as it weighs a ton. Also, the winch draws a lot of power. My current "lawn mower" battery died, so I decided to replace it with two super duty Odyssey AGM "dry cell" batteries in parallel. I just had to make a new battery tray of wood routed to fit the batteries and the factory tray, and a couple battery cables. I was able to use the factory + cable, but the ground strap was too short.

The throttle heater is much faster to thaw now and she starts immediately! I love it. Picture:

Now, you may be thinking that $200 on batteries is overkill, and it is, but I'll never have to worry about it. Plus, it is cool.

IVe read ALOT of good things about the odyssey battery...i wanna get one for my mule as well...i imagine with 2 batteries, it'd be insane!!
I have officially caught the 6-wheel-sickness!!

Best batteries I have ever used. I have one in my Jeep that I killed one day using the (9000 pound) winch. Jeep started right up after. I also used two (the two in the Max in fact) to weld with using a ReadyWelder II gun - could weld thick metal like butter.

Looks like a great battery do you think using just one would be ok realy dont think i need two and does one fit in the original holder on a max iv without any modifications?

One would still be overkill for a Max. The batteries are a bit smaller than the original, as a result, you'll need to make a floor in the battery tray to keep it from falling out. Also, the factory hold down may not work due to the location of the terminals.
