  • Removing Tires from MaxII ?

After taking the lug nuts off is it normal for the rim to be so tight on the studs? It`s nothing like a car rim. These things are tight Thanks

This is common for the K lock wheel on the Max. Isn't going to be super tight, but it can be pretty snug. Is your machine a late 90's or 2000 or newer? If so, it has the K lock rims.

I'm running the 8" K-locks (on Max IV axles) on GeoJem's Attex racer. They were new wheels and new axles when I built the machine. I basically have to kick them off once the lug nuts are off. They're tight, but after a few on-off's, they loosened up a bit. It's just a very snug fit over the wheel studs. I think it might be related to the holes in the wheels being the same size as the studs. That is, they don't use the conical lug nuts to center the wheel on the hub.

There a little expensive, but instead of drill bit find, buy, borrow a ball joint reamer. You can then enlarge the hole a little bit at a time. Last time i looked they were around $40.

That's the nice thing about the reamer, it is tapered and you can take a little out, try the fit, take a little more, etc. Wow, guess i haven't bought one in a while. Price has doubled!! Might be able to borrow from a repair shop if you promise them a ride...
