  • seat installation on max II

This may seem like a stupid question or maybe Im just missing something but I have a hell of a time getting the seat back in after working in the max II with the top up. Whats the easiest way to put it in or do you all just think Im crazy and Im the only one that has a problem? I have a rollbar and windshield so I do have to monkey around that a little. I usually try to get the seat in while the "top" is propped up, dont you have to do it this way or the brackets on the top that the clips go through will hit the seat when you lower it... Theres got to be a trick Im missing

It's very difficult to do, and no you're not crazy. What people do to fix this is they cut along the 90 degree bend where the floor pan goes up to the seat. Once you cut along that bend, then you have a floor pan, and a seat with the plastic over the shifter/jackshaft. It works much easier this way. Someone might have a pic they could show you since my description might not be all that clear.

I've started cutting my floor pans at about 1inch in front of the front mount bolts for the seat pad. The seat still snaps in good and the floorpan is much easier to remove and install.

Can someone post a pic of exactly where they made the cut before I regret cutting mine in the wrong spot.

If you will use the search on the site, there are a couple of threads with photos. Here's one to get you started: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-a...r-removal.html

I took a look at the pictures of the thread you posted mike and I think I may try this. I will have to go out and look at mine and see if it is the same setup, I'm sure it is. The real question is is this just some poor engineering on Recreative Industries part? You would think that they would have changed this design to make it easier to remove, its already hard enough to work on these things. Hopefully after everything I have done I won't have to do anything but periodic adjustments wich seem to be no problem. On another note I did make those modified chain tensioners with the round plastic and unistrut welded into the old chain tensioner frame and so far so good. Again I couldn't have done it without the threads and pictures found here. This is a great site and I hope I learn enough to start answering some questions rather than ask them...

It's really not that bad to remove in the stock form. You don't have to have the body raised to remove it. Just pull it up (from the seat end) and work it up over the laterals. You just have to be careful not to catch it on the throttle. Once you do it a couple of times you start to get the hang of it. With that said, I cut mine too.

Here is some pictures that Fred took while I was cutting both his and William's seat/floor. if you look in the back ground you should see what the seat looks like once cut.

Yeah. So much easier. I was gonna run some cables from the battery to somewhere in the rear to hook a charger up to since battery was so hard to reach now i dont have to.
