  • MAX IV T20 Transmission

I own a 2005 MAX IV 27 hp water cooled, and I see no way to change the transmission fluid without pulling the engine, there must be another way. I can't even see the fill and drain plugs, even with the back seat pulled out.

    -Thanks for any help Bob

Commander-the t-20 has a top plug (Right top) and a bottom plug (right middle) start under the right side and reach down and feel the top plug(made sure your in direct sunlight!) once you feel the plug and know where it is you'll be able to angle yourself where you'll see the plug. You will need a 1/4 tube and a suction device available at most hardward stores. Put the tube in through the top hole and draw the fluid out with the suction pump. If you have a winch you can hook it to a tree and pull your max up to a 45 degree angle to get a beter angle of attack. Hope this helps!

      T 20 transmission

I changed the fluid and used the GM additive and it makes all the difference. They recommend changing it every 50 hours, I will be doing that.

I also own a max iv 950t I was wondering which type of suction pump you used.I found the singal pull pump worthless. I bought a vacume style suction pump pela 2000. I used the 3/16 tube in the bottom left hand plug from back of the machine with cover removed. Changing the fluid is effortless this way and should be done warm.

I just use a 60 cc syringe and 1/4" tubing. Get hooked up with a Nurse. They are good for many things.

A 60cc. syringe only holds about 2oz. I'm sure this works fine, however I'd rather put the tube in once and pump it all out.(getting older) unit also works well for draining oil out of snowblowers, lawnmowers and other power equipment without making a mess.
