  • Adding outriggers to MaxIV?

I use my MaxIV alot during the summer for fishing, but it does get a bit un-nerving if you have a passenger who casts and you aren't ready for it. The side to side tip can make you a bit nervous, especially on a fair sized lake. I have seen some members here have made pontoons, but has anyone tried using swing-down outriggers for kayaks? If they have enough flotation to them, I would think they would help stabilize the side to side motion in choppy water. Should be easy enough to mount swing hinges to the roll-bar side rails so they could lock in a down position or up for transport.
I don't want to re-invent the wheel if someone else has tried this.
Looking for opinions before I become the test dummy.

Only my opinion(disclaimer)I use a Argo 8 in the water extensively, and have put dual wheels on and its as stable as it can get,the added bonus of spanning ruts in the trail and better mud performance I see it as the only way to go,as far as outriggers though Iam sure they work fine it does nothing else for you and you got all that stuff hanging off the machine that is no advantage at all on land, duals are easy to do and if you want to sell them in the future there is a better market.NCT

There are a couple of threads on the forum regarding outriggers on a Max IV. If you search, you should be able to find them. Here's one to get you started: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-a...-pontoons.html

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The dual-wheels would be better if they were in my budget. But, if I have done the math correctly (questionable) a pair of folding kayak outriggers should do the trick.
I'll post some photos when done.
