I am new here as a member but have lurked for awhile. I have found a 2000 Max IV with a 16hp B&S and a rollcage. It does not have an hour meter. It looks clean. The undercarage from what I can see looks good. The chains are oiled. I will get to ride it tomorrow. The guy wants 5500.00. It has never been in the water as a floater (the plugs are still with the paper work.) So my question is: is this a good price ?

Good price for a Max IV

The 16hp is small, and that vehicle has the lighter driveline. It will probably have hollow axles and standard chain. That's the biggest difference between the 16hp and 18hp models. The 18hp has a lot more power along with solid axles and o-ring chains. Also, the Max IV is worthless without the 26" tires if you are not running tracks. A 2000 model should have square headlights also.
I just sold a 2002 Max IV with the 20hp Kohler and 26" tires for $5300. I think the price on the 16hp is way too much, as the 20hp model is 10 times the machine.Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.

I agree with Brandon! I have a 1999 Max IV with the 16hp Briggs & Stratton so it has the hollow axles but I have a o-ring chain on it now due to me breaking the standard chains often (a Max for $1,500 in mint condition isn't too bad and I couldn't let it pass thinks to a family member!!). $5500 is too much for the 16 hp. I would say at the most about $4000 or $4500 for it.
