  • Steering with no front chains

I removed my old stretched front chains and will be replacing them as soon as the new ones arrive. In the meantime, I wanted to take the Max IV for a test ride as I made a few other adjustments and repairs. On my last trail ride I had some steering issues and when I got back home I noticed my left rear axle bolt snapped...The T20 mounting bolts were also just a little loose as well as one of the drive chains.
Anyways, on my test ride the steering was not as tight going left or right. Is this because I don't have my front chains attached or could my T20 need adjustment?

Its because of the chains. In the last few months, i have many axle bolts break on me some in the rear and a few in the front. I noticed that with the bolts snapping in the front, on ground where i would have traction ( dry ground or pavement), the turning radius became smaller. I had to negotiate turns ahead of time accordingly because of the poor steering. On wet or slippery ground, my machine drove like a torque happy rear wheel drive mustang. It was kind of fun but rendered my machine almost useless in the mud and dangerous when climbing hills. The drive chains and their tension are all essential to the ultimate performance of our machines, along with having your tranny stay put to put the power where its suppose to.
