    Anything I can do?????

My max ii has a very new 16 hp vanguard in it but I just want more power for spinning the tires over and really making the four wheelers that try to go where I go sick to there stomache. I really don't want to replace a brand new engine not to mention its retry expensive too. Just wondering if there was something I can do or have done to my 16 hp to make it just a little more mean? Any ideas fellas? I'm open to all input. Thanks as always.

Performance V-Twins would be the place to get in touch with. Here's their website:

If you give me your email address I can forward on the gist of what it takes to get mid 20's in HP out of it........personally I think it's too expensive, and for approx the same money you can sell your motor as used, and buy a bandolero. Why not have 30HP instead of 24 or 25.

Yes indeed I'm sure his knowledge is defiantly missed. Sounds like he really knew his stuff. R.I.P. to be honest about 60% clear over my head looks like I will be buying a bandelero in the near future.

I passed along the info that originally came from member Roger S. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/gener...ssed-away.html Although I didn't know Roger well, he was very kind and helpful to me as a new member. He is missed.

                  Something just is not right

Im at a loss baught a max ii about a month ago re worked the carb now it runs great well the engine at least. The problem is that when I get it in a bind like a mud hole or on an incline it seems the engine does not have the power to spin the tires over. I know 16 hp is on the small side but I really think it is a problem some where else. I baught a new belt and installed it tightened it to spec and no difference. I notice when in a bind if I pull both sticks back rev the engine and then push forward it makes a brief squeak and then the mother Boggs down. Like it is in to high of a gear to turn the wheels. Someone said something about a spring on the transmission. Is there some way to test mine or something to look for that may indicate failure of the one installed? confused:

If you already replaced the belt and tightened it to spec, that certainly eliminates that issue. The 16HP Vanguard is a great engine and should rarely bog down. It sounds like your problem could be in your clutching. The driven clutch on your transmission may need a new spring (I'd recommend ordering a red one from Recreatives if that's the issue). Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511 It could also be in your drive clutch on your engine. Lift the top half of the body up and see if both clutches are working when you rev it up. (in nuetral of course).

Yes both clutches work in neural guess I'm going to order the new spring and see how that goes. I know I'm close I can feel it. Really excited.
