Hey guys I'm new to the site and have been doing a lot of reading on here to see if this trade is worth it. A guy I know is willing to trade me an old max II 2 stroke for my s&w .500 w/scope case and shells. From what I've seen of the aatv the top cover is a little ruff a few zip ties holding it together, the battery is junk but also has pull start. I know the starter works because I jumped it to make sure. I lifted it up and checked axle bearings and found nothing except a loose wheel. The only major thing is some attached a rear bumper through the bottom and wasn't tight and now leaks water where the bar went through. I know it leaks because he sank it over the weekend. Easy fix or not? Is there possibly water in the engine and trans? I don't know if it would do any damage this quickly or if I could drain and refill the fluids? Like I said I don't know what these are worth and I know i have about 1500 in the gun. thanks for the input and hope to own a 6x6 soon. Nick

The water MUST be removed from the engine and trans ASAP. I did the same thing a couple years ago, got the water out and all was fine. You just dont want to allow things to rust.sears wheels up.jpg
As far as value goes, it is tough to value it without seeing it.
Where are you located? Maybe another local member could help you out.

Like Jim said it's hard to place a value on the machine without seeing it, but the way you describe it, I'm going to guess it isn't worth a $1500 value trade. Just guessing here, but it's probably going to be worth under $1000."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

I live in sw Pa. Like I said I'm new to this and have no idea what I'm looking for. I raced dirtbikes for years and know the 2strokes constanly need freshened up. At least both my rm 250 and 125 did. The trans has forward and reverse I know that works for sure. The bearings seem good. The wheel was loose and I'm worried it messed up the studs and wheel but I'm not totally sure if it did. I only had a limited amount of time. The upper half like I said has a couple of battle wounds and is faded but a little paint could fix that. The thing I'm most worried about is the holes where the bumper went through. What do you do in a case like that? Fiberglass repair kit? I was mainly looking for the big stuff wrong with it and he said he would change all the fluids clean the carb and put a new plug in for me. If I would sell the gun realistically I have 1500 in it but you know how that goes. You never get the money out of it. I may only get 1000-1200 I'm guessing. I'm so torn. I've wanted a 6x6 for so long and its so close but I'm not a gambling man at all. Everyone I've found on craigslist they want a million dollars and they need work. I haven't found one under 2 grand yet in about the same shape this ones in. Fix the holes and have a blast or walk and find a better one?

Many people look for the "low end" machines, but just remember, the little things like tires add up quick. Often you are better off buying one that is ready to run, than a bargain machine. This is one I have for sale, starts when the key is touched, and has zero problems to be fixed. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/aatvs...90s-maxii.html
That may be out of your price range, but by the time you added a set of tires and a trans rebuild to the one you are looking at......it would be cheaper.
