  • max ii, fully chassis rebuild log.

if u dig back a few pages u can find an earlier topic i started call max devastation. the tittle said it all. the chassis was a loss and so where sooo many other things wrong with my atv.

so now begins a slow recover process and rebuild from the ground up. the only thing that will remain mostly unchanged is the tub.

im keeping my focus simple, get a rolling chassis is priority. today i got my metal and started by drilling the 2.75" holes. this was pretty simple to do, i tacked the two pieces together to keep stuff equal.

tommaro i will drill the bolt holes while its still tacked together, cut 45's at the rail ends and tig stuff together.

im going to need advice from whoever feels like helping. things i need to figure out that i havent priced out.

    1. i wanna add a inner bearing and not use the old style center bar system, where do i find these and how much?

    2. i read to ask whipper about axles. anyone got a ball park at what it cost for sprockets and splined axles?

    3. im having trouble understanding the design concept behing why the transmission chains go to a secondary chain and sprocket set before linking up to the drive chains. can this be by passed in my new design? im getting custom water jet trans plates made so this is kind of important because mounting the rotax and trans will not work in stock location.

i no there isnt much to look at now but trust me this will be a interesting project forsure. considering ive never driven one before.

Very cool! Glad to see your motivation for this project! For the bearings, give Buffalo Bearing a call. They'll have everything you need and tell them you're working on a 6 wheeler and they'll be glad to help you out. (716) 874-1720.

The jackshaft, instead of direct drive right to the axles is because the chains can't be run directly to the center axles because the sprockets would hit on the tub/lower body. If I remember correctly you're from the western NY area. Come hang out with us sometime and join us for a work day or two and we'd be happy to help you along!

We all get together in Lockport at MarkMaxIV's shop. We actually just picked up a Max II frame last night, so you could use that as a reference if you'd like. We usually get together every other weekend with other 6X6World members.
