Anybody heard anything more about the diesel engine option that Matt is developing? There was a thread about it that got lost during the website re-do and I PM'd Matt to re-post it but I haven't seen anything on it yet. Sounds like an interesting option.

yes there is a diesel option available but is not yet in production but should be within the next week or so. It is a turbo charged 40 hp diesel made by Yanmar, there may be other diesel motors available in the future. It has about 100 ft/lbs of torque and is very fuel efficient . Pricing is still to be determined. It is direct drive to the hydraulic pump and does not use a CVT clutch. It is undergoing the final testing before going into production. I will post some pics of the prototype here later.

Thanks ak. You mention in your reply that with the diesel engine the set up does not use the CVT clutch, is this also true of the Kohler engine now or is the clutch not needed on the diesel because it has so much more torque than the gasser? Thanks, and can't wait to see pictures of the new set up and video of the diesel in action.

The diesel option should go into production next week and it appears the standard diesel motor is going to be a 44hp 4 cyl turbo charged Kubota engine. Also the standard gas Kohler is also direct drive without a CVT clutch. More info to follow soon.

From the reports I get from friends, that diesel is overwhelming. The power is fantastic and fuel consumption is so low it's rediculous.
I'll have mine in a few weeks and will be doing a bunch of video in ugly peat bogs. I'll be doing depth measurements in Black Water swamp to see how deep it is. 4 wheelers have been sunk in it.
I doubt if I will have much trouble with the Ox.
Mine will be the diesel and loaded with about everything made for it.
I'll keep you all posted.

AussieMax, I have about everything on it that Matt made including those big old 20 inch tracks. I wouldn't get far in Black Water with wheels. Yeah, I will be shooting a lot of video and will be posting a bunch on this forum. If I get stuck I'm not sure how I will get a line to pull me out because no one will be able to walk in or get another machine in to get me. I'm not worried about it. If I was, I'd stay at home in my nice safe recliner.
