  • jfyi driving over railroad tracks

Good news I took my amphicat out wheelin even though the left middle tire is flat-I decided to try going over the railroad tracks to see if the amphicat could do it plus I hate driving to the intersection to cross the tracks.Anyway the amphicat went over no problem!Just thought I would let the people know as I looked for the answer before and I did not find anything related to the old amphicat with balloon tires and the weaker transmission of the three. So I now believe my scrambler should have no problem!

I'd hate to press my luck with RR tracks. You can always take a couple 2x4 and stick put them down before crossing to make sure you don't get hung up.

no,I went straight across-I live in a very busy area and the railroad tracks go in the middle of an old gun range-I have to cross a 5 lane road-travel through a church parking lot-go through to deep ditches then go up and over the tracks-all this while hoping the chesterfield township police-the macomb township police-the macomb county sheriff -dont see me and get me.As a matter of fact a chesterfield cop was sitting in the parking lot of the church when I got back-So I had to drive back across the 5 lane highway-through an industrial complex-behind a couple bars and through the backlot of a banquet hall to get home with out the cops seeing me!Talk about an adrenaline rush!-The amphicat sticks out like a sore thumb in a city environment-in fact crossing the tracks was much easier than I thought-When I am crossing the highway its at full speed over the new cement curbs!-Man I wish I lived in the country-to many rules in the city.

Yes I do!!-I am only about a mile and a half from lake st clair so I am hoping for a nice cold winter. The lake never froze last winter!-If I were a real man I would drive the scrambler or amphicat through the vacant detroit area's or around the old packard plant LOL.

I would be careful about ruining the body in between the tires hitting them straight on. The rails could slam the bottom and crack the outside edges of the body between the wheels.

Maybe you could put a slow moving vehicle triangle on the back and mount a chain saw/ shovel or something and play stupid if you do get caught by the police. Put something in there so it looks like your working and not playing, lol.
