  • Where's the fuel fill on a Trail Boss?

This sounds like an odd question, but where is the stock location for the fuel fill? I have a tub with a crude hole in the 'trunk'... is that correct? My running TB doesn't have any hole. It looks like I have to open the tub to fill the tank.

I just got a trail boss a few days ago. My fuel fill is in the trunk. Has radiator hose that runs from the tank up thru a rubber grommet in the trunk bthe cap keeps it from sliding in. I take it you just got your TB?

Yes... You and I probably got them around the same time. These are a blast! There are a few things I want to do, but mostly it'll remain stock (or as it sits now). It has a new clutch, but I don't think the belt is the right size. It should run to the top, but doesn't seem to make it. Still moves along at a good clip, though!

I haven't taken it swimming yet. It's a little chilly for a test run (and possible failure).

I was adjusting my carb last night and i cant get the clutches to shift all the way. Might just be the way it is. Is that top factory or did someone fabricate it on there? Looks good either way. I have. Bunch of 1x1 angle that im gonna make a frame with. Then im going to slip over a golfcart canvas enclosure and snap it to the tub. Gotta keep warm somehow haha

          Hey outhere....

Your belt is WAY to skinny. For that drive/driven setup, I think you should be running at least a 1 3/16" top width belt. I really don't know what length, since this is a custom machine. The machine will behave comPLETEly differently with an adequate belt width. I imagine you really need to rev that up to get any engagement whatsoever. I'd measure your current belt length (around the outside of the belt, using a fabric tape measure if possible) and get that same length in a 1 1/8" or 1 3/16" top width belt.

Where's a good place to buy these belts? I would guess a snowmobile place?

Yes, it doesn't move until the engine is spooled up pretty good. I figured that belt was too small. How is it removed/replaced on the trans shaft?

Thanks, I'll measure, and see what I can come up with.

That top was made for a PO. It's basically a boat bimini frame with custom canvas.
