Cushman Range Cat 775, Scot-trac Hillcat 775 ?

Hoping the font of all knowledge can answer this one folks. A mate of mine has a 1995 Scot-trac hillcat 775, known in the states as a Cushman Rangecat 775. This vehicle has gearbox problems and as you can imagine the price of parts over here is astronomical.
Any ideas who made the gearbox? It would have been bought in by Scottrac, probably from overseas. Cushman bought Scottrac two years later and the dealers here refer to the gearbox as a Cushman type but as far as I know Cushman do not make transmissions, they assemble vehicles.
I am awaiting images of the offending gearbox which I hope will make ID easier, meanwhile any thoughts?

I've been informed that apparently this box is the same as Early Argo, it would have made sense to by an existing box in from a reputable manufacturer.

Any thoughts?

Apparently so, I have to have a look at it for a mate shortly so sussing out the make now, ready to locate parts.
My guess is it's either not engaged fully over the years or has an inherent wear problem (oil feed). I shall have it here in a month or so when it's finished feeding the sheep.
I take it the jumping out of low is a design fault then, a built in weakness ??

Input shaft will be worn, along with idler gear etc.

Not expensive no sort, they just round the teeth from wear. 500 ish hours

How much for a box Rory, and is it good? This chap would buy one as a spare then rebuild his for later use, he intends to keep the Scottrack as long as possible.
Parts from Scot track can be a tad expensive, hence wanting to know who made the box and if parts are available from them direct. Problem over here is a captive market because of limited sales, therefore they jack the prices up to an astronomical height.

In my last life I used to repair Fuller and Eaton boxes on a weekly basis, parts direct were quite reasonable, when we sold them on they weren't :o) Just trying to bypass the money pit that's all, and there's no harm in trying.

I think it was based on an odg box.

If I remember correctly the parts were quite cheap, I was surprised. I'll send you alans number, he owns scot track, great guy to deal with.

I'm not sure on condition of box, I bought it from a machine which had been squashed by a tractor. I used to have a few of the 775's. They were good machines.
