  • Got a Gotcha

I just picked up a Gotcha today. The wife needed to go to the mall to return some things. On the way there out of the corner of my eye i spotted it next to a house and yelled "There's a Gotcha". My wife was like "what are you talking about?" I figured it would be one of those "it's not for sale, i'm going to fix it some day" So on the way back I stopped, a kid answered the door, i asked if his parents were home. He said no so I asked if he knew what was up with the "go kart thing" cuz i knew he wouldn't know what a Gotcha was. He said it was his and him and his friend were going to put a 750cc engine in it but never got around to it. So i went over to check it out and someone had built a frame under it, extended the wheelbase, and put hubs from an atv or something on the front with a steering set up from a snowmobile. The body has a few places that need repaired but fiberglass is easy. I'm not a body man but I've fixed wrecked semi truck front ends before. I'm just not sure what to do with it yet. I'd love to restore it but besides the tub and the rear axles nothing else is there. I could maybe find or make front axles using the rears for a pattern. Or I could build a neat gokart for the kids out of what someone started. I uploaded some pics to the "other" gallery and will try to get more soon. I think it was the best trip to the mall ever though.

Good story! Egoperf and I are both in the process of modding gotcha bodies to accept t20s. If you search the for sale section, you will see he has 2 entire drive lines including axles for sale. If you wanted to restore it, that would be the easiest way.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Thanks for the heads up Drew.
Egoperf, what do you need to get for the parts? PM me if you'd like.
Like i said, it's only the tub and both rear axles. Engine, trans, seat, hood (on the front), laterals (sticks) and everything else is gone.

Very cool! Glad you were able to save this one. It'll be nice to see another Gotcha done up! I'm going to take a wild guess and say you probably got a very good deal on it too. Keep us posted on the progress and congrats!

And I see you got it home the same way Drew got one of his Gotchas home......on the luggage rack of the SUV. Extra points for that!

$20. I figured the 2 tires are worth that.
The kid thought it was an amuesment park ride at one time. Got me wondering about those merry go rounds with dune buggies, if they ever used bodies of aatvs on them. I'll have to check that out, I live 2 miles from an amuesment park.

$20?! That's a crazy good deal! The kid pretty much gave that Gotcha away.
