  • scrambler max XII help

    Hi
I am a new member and just pruchased a scrambler 6x6 max XII model number 1200 I am starting to restore it.It has hydrolic steering and steering wheel Does anybody know where I can get the new break pads and the steering plates redone all the material on both are shot or missing and needs to be replaced.
Also after taking the steering disc off the bearings need to be replaced and I dont see how they come apart to get to the inner bearing are they pressed togather or is there a replacement part available? and where?
Thankyou for any information you can give me

Welcome to the site! Before anybody can help you we need to see what kind of 6x6 it really is. There is a 6x6 named a Scrambler and then there are two other ones named Max. A Max II and a Max IV. But there isn't one named a Scrambler Max XII.

Do you have a picture of it that you could upload?

Does it look like this one?

Also, most of the bearings on the axles are held on in a similar fashion regardless of which aatv you have. So check out the "how-to" article section of the site. There are a couple of axle/bearing replacement articles with many pictures that may help.

I think your Scrambler is called the Mark XII model. I had one too. You might want to talk to Amphiman1 if you have Scrambler questions because he has quite a few of them in his collection.

          scrambler marc XII

Hi Guys been a while sense I have been on have been working on restoration of the scrambler. body work mostly complete, drive train is in the shop getting rebuilt, found a local reline shop to put new clutch and brake pads on. Sandblasted all the axils and any metal brakets I took off [which was all of them]then repainted them when I reinstalled each part replaced all the bearing on the axil shafts [just under $200.00 for all of them] ordered new seals waiting for them to come so I can get the drive system back in and install the motor [292 snowjet] then minor thing to do and I'M rollin cant wait Its been fun to bring back an old machine
I am looking for a back seat for a model 1200 if any one knows where I can get one let me know.
I have been reading all the threads and have injoyed the site alot
Aphaman Thanks for the info and where to get the seal kit

Hey TLP, I always enjoy reading these threads about someone breathing new life into a vintage 6 wheeler. Is that 292 from the SnoJet a JLO/Rockwell engine? If so, one of my friends has a huge supply of new old stock engine parts that you could use. Also if you are looking for a backseat for the Scrambler, Amphiman1 is the guy to talk to again.......he probably has a few of them in his vintage AATV parts inventory.

I am checking what it is. I can't find any markings at this point to ID the engine but that is great to know there are parts available.
                  Thanks for the info.

Probably a early 70'smachine, The frame that holds the fuel tank has a serial number. Check the serial number on the engine if it's origionalalso .
