  • New to 6X6s, bought a real project, TT10 Allis Terra Tiger

Figured I would introduce myself and my machine, my name is Andrew I'm from outside a little town of 90 people called Perley MN north of the Moorhead MN, Fargo ND metro area. I know terra tigers are not the most agile 6x6s out there but I'm an Allis guy at heart, my family has old Allis tractors and I collect the yellow B-series garden tractors.

I was pretty excited when I found this fixer upper Terra Tiger on c-list about 4 hours away. And it was a yellow one! I got a good buy on it and I wanted a project anyways I cant stay busy enough tinkering in the shop. All but 2 tires are shot and the motor is locked up but the previous owner said it was taken out of a snowmobile. The fiberglass seems good except for some sun cracking on the top, the drives are rusted up but I'm in no hurry! My plan is to install an electric start Honda knock-off, and new Carlisle 21x11-8 tires and make hub adaptors and repaint it. If anyone has any tips or info Id love to know!
I'm wondering what I would need for a primary clutch to change over to a 4 stroke? and would the secondary need modifying? Im also missing the gas tank, what have people done for replacements? My overall goal is to have a machine that retains the stock look but is fun and reliable to drive, by no means do I plan to abuse it. Any mods or tips would be greatly appreciated this forum has already been a wealth of knowledge!

We have tried the Carroll Stream Honda clones and the Harbor Freight clones.
      Harbor Freight GOOD!
      Carroll Stream BAD!
LarryW, Toys4Me and Notfast all have the clones, drop them an email.

BTW...our Carroll Stream engines were manufactured by Lifan or LIFAN

Terra Tigers have a number of drawbacks to them, the biggest is the cone clutches(transmission). I rebuilt this one a few years ago, grafted in a car flywheel and starter on a custom main shaft to have reverse, only to have the clutches fail right afterwards. I wish I had put a t-20 transmission in it instead.
With a few simple upgrades ( add a frame,T-20, larger axles, #50 chain, etc) Your Tiger could be a very capable AATV. I believe 25" tires will fit too.
The fuel tank is something you will have to make or find one to modify.....it was common for them to rust out. Your secondary clutch will probably work well enough with the 4 stroke, but you wont know till you try it. The primary clutch will have to match your motor. Your motor will probably have a 1" straight shaft, so this would work 302405A-W2 - 780 Series Drive Clutch for Recreatives Ind Max ATVs | ATV Parts | MFG Supply

Thanks for the reply's! what do people think as far as horsepower? I don't wana get to wild so I was thinking 13hp, Has anyone had any experience with the DUROMAX clone engines? has anyone put a t-20 in a terra tiger? Ive herd of those transmissions but wouldn't know one if I tripped over it haha. Looking as the axles I've been thinking instead of making adapters I will just put heavier axels in.

Hello AllisAndrew and congrats on your Terra Tiger!

A 13hp engine should have plenty of power for it. Bigger is always better but I would think a 13 would be fine. The clone 16hp engine I have is a powermax. Which is the same as Duromax now. But I have beat on it pretty good with a governor overide and have only had one issue with the fan coming off the flywheel. I am not sure why but Im guessing it was loose. It was destroyed and I emailed the manufacture and told them and they shipped me a new one no questions asked and even paid shipping. I did also fry the coil once but think it was more of an error on my part with some loose wires not tooken care of. I just bought a honda 13hp coil and it mounted right on.

Im sure someone has put a t-20 in one but cant recall it.

Putting heaver axles in it sounds like a good idea. If the adapters are not made and reinforced right they break. You cant just bolt an adapter plate on it needs more strength because of the 3 bolt hubs are weak when supporting a rimmed tire like that. (Not sure exactly on your terra tiger hubs but most I have seen anyways.)

Sounds great thanks! Ill have to check on there warranty that would be a big plus. I was wondering about using one of these comet reverse gear boxes,Forward / Reverse Gearbox | Go Kart & Mini Bike Parts | MFG Supply That's a good point those flanges for the old 3 bolt wheels are pretty thin!
