  • Sundstrand hydro towing clips

I was looking over my new Trackster today and noticed that the towing clips that allow you to move the machine if the engine stops running are missing. Does anyone know where you could possibly buy replacement clips for these? Something tells me I should have these and keep them really close by...

    Thanks
    Nick

You could try the local hyd. shop or try Mudd-Ox, have the hydro numbers off the unit if possible.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Nick....Send me your address, I have a set I'll send you. I personally don't use them, they are a PITA to hook on, if I have to tow mine, I just stuff a short piece of 1 1/2" radiator hose in between them and the firewall, that holds them down enough to be able to tow the machine. Also, before you depress the valve, soak it good with PB Blaster or similar, they tend to stick because they are never moved except in an emergency. That "button" should move in and out freely. Does your machine have the hydraulic cylinder mounted behind the RS track sprocket? If so, the LS clip is different from machines that don't have the cylinder. But , if you have that cylinder, you can't tow the machine anyway, without removing the cylinder. If the machine isn't running, there isn't any hydraulic pressure being produced to pull the cylinder back out of the sprocket. Cushman had to put that cylinder on there to keep the machine from freewheeling down hills in the case of the engine quitting when decending a steep hill. I've taken that cylinder off all the machines I've had/have. Also, if you haven't already, take a magnet and search under the hydros/gearbox for the clips. Lots of times I've found them sitting down in that black hole, they fall in there and disappear.
