  • Terra Tiger Chains??

Anyone know what size chains the terra tiger takes? I had put on all #40 but it doesnt ride very great on the sprockets,at first glance it did but the more I get into it they are not working.I found another peice of chain I had laying around and it fits perfect but no number just letters TYC.I have some #41 chain and it seems better but still rides up.So I dont know

I believe the differance between 40,41 and 42 is the width. They all are 1/2"pitch. If you measure the teeth(either tip to tip or bottom to bottom) you could probably find a site that would say. My guess is your sprockets are worn out. If I remember right I believe my brothers ran #40.

      chains

I have 4 of the same sprokets from different machines and they are all the same as far as the riding up problem.I am thinking that if they are worn that the chains would be loose on the sprokets instead they become to short to hit the next groove, not sure whats going on,I would think it was just standard chain.

          chains

The problem is with the middle sprockets or the largest sprockets in the middle,#40 seems to fit fine on all the smaller sprockets and it also rides up on the large front sprocket, the peice of chain I found in the shop fits perfect but has no number on it,not sure if its a #41 that is worn a little.Putting it side by side with the new #41 the links appear to be the same but it doesnt take too many links to not match up.Like I said I have 4 different sprockets, one would not think they are all worn out?

Found some spec. on Roller chain. There is 40,41,420,428 with 1/2 pitch. But the roller diameter is differant which would make it ride differant on differant sprockets.

But if you say it dont take long for the chains to not line up side by side then the pitch would be differant or one is worn. To see how bad they are worn you can flex them sideways. If the longer one(when lined up side by side) flexs more, then it is worn out.

Thanks for all the info.So far I think the #41 chain is going to do the trick, seems to go on the sprockets alot better.I will know for sure soon, just got all the drivetrain rebuilt and installed last weekend so just waiting on a good engine now, hope to take my first ride ever in an AATV Cant wait
